THANKS FROM PARENT SERVICES PROJECT

As 2010 comes to a close, the board and staff wish to thank our partners, funders and the families and educators we serve – for sharing in our work to strengthen families and communities. We were honored that so many of you were able to participate in our 30th anniversary event this year. And, while 2010 has been challenging in many ways, we are inspired by the commitment and daily actions that we see happening on behalf of children and their families. Our newsletter highlights some of these inspiring moments. Enjoy- and have a happy holiday season.

Thanks From Parent Services Project

Aprendiendo Juntos Brings Families Together

Francisco Taay Hernandez now has a stronger relationship with his daughter, Heydi, thanks to Aprendiendo Juntos (Learning Together). Heydi looked forward every week to the play group coordinated by the Parent Services Project—and to spending time with her father, he adds.

Leadership Training Forges Connections Between Birth and Foster Parents

Birth parents, foster parents, and professional parents came together over the summer to learn leadership skills and build connections through a Vision and Voice Parent Leadership Institute sponsored by the Parent Services Project and EMQ FamiliesFirst.

Raising A Reader Promotora Program to Instill Love of Reading

Children will have more opportunities to get excited about reading, thanks to a partnership between the Parent Services Project and the Novato Youth Center’s School Readiness Program. The collaboration is training Spanish-speaking Promotoras as Raising A Reader Ambassadors and literacy educators, to work with children in Novato family child care homes.

Atlanta Collaboration Builds School Readiness, Parent Leadership
