We are excited to welcome our newest staff member, Liz Teodoro (pictured center) who just started as a Community Outreach Specialist in our Community Outreach and Organizing program. program. We are also pleased to have two student nurse interns with us this semester, Monica Cruz (pictured left) and Colleen O’Sullivan (pictured right) from the University of San Francisco supporting our Healthy Homes/Canal Promotores work.
What makes a child into a life-long reader? Our Raising A Reader Parent Ambassadors believe you have to make reading fun and then children will get hooked. On October 5th, 15 Parent Ambassadors gathered to create story-extension activities with this goal in mind. This year, the Ambassadors will lead story times at family day care homes, playgroups and child care centers in neighborhoods in Fairfax, Novato and San Rafael. Our Leaders for Change: Protective Factors in Action training program reached over 100 participants across 6 counties in California this past year. An independent evaluation indicates that participants increased their advocacy and leadership actions and made significant gains in knowledge, confidence and skills relating to the Protective Factors.
